DRS Wiki¶
Single source of truth for the Deposit Refund Scheme work — operational, business and product context.
The wiki goes from general to specific. Concept notes explain what a DRS is and the choices any scheme has to make. Common concepts go deep on mechanisms that work the same way everywhere. Scheme pages hold the numbers for one scheme and are authoritative for them.
Start here¶
New to DRS? Read these three, in order.
- What is DRS? — the concept, the problem, the core loop
- How DRS schemes vary — the design dimensions any scheme differs on
- India DRS — EPR, the regulatory backdrop, and where each Indian scheme stands
Common concepts¶
Mechanisms shared across schemes. Read these when you need the detail behind a concept note.
QR¶
- The QR code — what the code guarantees, how it is minted, what it carries
- The QR lifecycle — the six states a code moves through, and when it becomes money
- Getting the QR onto the container — printing, stickering, and who does what
Schemes¶
One page per scheme. Each is authoritative for its own deposit values, fees, targets and obligations — those numbers are not repeated anywhere else in the wiki.
- Goa DRS — deposits, fees, targets, obligations, enforcement
- Manufacturers (PIBOs) — what a brand has to do, and what it costs them
Platform capabilities¶
What the product actually does, screen by screen. These pages are permitted to go out of date — check the last_verified_against_build date before relying on one.
- Overview — the portals and how they fit together
- Manufacturer Portal — the full module reference
Decisions¶
Why the scheme works the way it does, and what it used to do instead. Written once per decision and never edited.
- Why we keep these — and how to write one
- ADR-0001 — deposit at QR generation, not dispatch
- ADR-0002 — activation bound to system events
- ADR-0003 — the SKU attached late, not removed
Conventions¶
Every page carries frontmatter with an owner and a last_reviewed date. Pages marked status: draft have not been verified by a human — treat their claims as provisional. The icon beside each page in the navigation shows that status at a glance. Nothing is marked status: current until someone has checked it against source.
